Five Facts from the History of Dodge Vehicles

We’ve always had our eye on Dodge, hence it being a line we offer to our neighbors and community. Not only do we love the muscle, but the versatility available throughout the entire line is truly amazing. It’s come a long way from what it was when the Dodge brothers started and we’d like to invite you on a trip down memory lane with some fun facts.

1.     There weren’t four wheels. Originally, the family started selling bicycles in Windsor, Canada. Horace Dodge patented a dirt-resistant bicycle bearing in 1896, which is on all bike bearings made today.

2.     Still prior to four wheels. After closing up their bicycle shop in 1900, the brothers founded a machine shop. They made parts for stoves—who knew?

3.     The Dodge brothers started inching towards auto in 1910 by manufacturing parts for the Ford Model T. They played a big role in the model’s production—just sayin’.

4.     The dynamic duo were so successful that they had salesman ready to sell their product before all information about the vehicle was announced. By 1916, their company was one of the best-selling automakers in the states.

5.     Dodge was used in the U.S. Military during the Mexican Revolution in 1916. Lt. George Patton Jr. led three Dodge touring vehicles carrying 15 soldiers to fight Pancho Villa. Can you say fierce?

You can now see why we’re so fond of our beloved Dodge vehicles. It’s amazing that the Dodge brothers started with two-wheel contraptions and expanded to their vast lineup, including sedan, SUV, and crossover models.
